Around the world our rainforests are being depleted, satellite images have revealed that an area of approximately 5800 sq miles of the Amazon rainforest is burnt or cleared each year to make way for cattle ranching, farming or other development.

To put this into perspective, an area ¾ the size of Wales is being lost every year, this is nearly 16 sq. miles every day.

Most companies are now using FSC approved wood. However, the Forestry Stewardship Council re-planting schemes are taking 30 - 60 years for those trees to grow into a re-harvestable resource.

Bamboo holds the promise to be a sustainable, cost effective and ecological alternative to the widespread cutting of our forests.
